Tour description :
Nestled at the borders of Mongolia, Russia, and China, the majestic Altai mountains form an untouched wilderness, rich in wildlife, including snow leopards, ibex, and argali sheep. These stunning snow-capped peaks, meaning “the five holy,” present unique challenges and offer breathtaking views. Home to Tuvan and Kazakh herders who have preserved their nomadic lifestyles for centuries.
This trekking tour provides a magical 8-day independent hiking adventure in the Altai Mountains, and 1 day of hiking in the beautiful Baga Turgen gorges, as well as cultural visits. Experience the beauty of snow-capped peaks, glaciers, crystal-clear lakes, and lush valleys as you explore one of Mongolia’s most remote areas. Camel caravans will carry all your gear, allowing a deeper immersion in nature for the trekkers. This region is also rich in history and archaeology, featuring ancient burial sites and rock paintings that should not be missed.
You will trek along gentle trails through lush meadows, streams, glacial rivers, and marshlands. Eventually, you will arrive at the base camp of Khuiten Mountain, the highest peak in Mongolia. From there, you’ll enjoy a guided climb to Malchin peak (4050), the technically easiest of the five highest peaks.
Arrival in UB and city tour
Upon your arrival in Ulaanbaatar, our local staffs (drivers and guide) will pick you up at the international airport of Chinggis khan. You will be transferred to a centrally located three-star hotel.
At noon, you will be escorted for a guided city tour that highlights the city’s most notable attractions, impressive National History Museum, Sukhbaatar Square and the Parliament building.
As the evening approaches, at 6:00 PM, experience a traditional Mongolian show at Tumen Ekh ensemble, featuring folk dances, contortion, and khoomii, the unique throat singing, followed by a welcome dinner.
